It is very well possible that you are one of the many Dutch citizens who are not quite sure about the Dutch Nationality Law. You may have questions and looking for some clarification. First of all, if you ‘only’ have the Dutch nationality don’t worry, you will stay Dutch irrespective of where you live in the world. However, if you, your parents, or your children, want to acquire another nationality in addition to the Dutch one, or already have one, then it is very important that you are well informed and stay up to date on the law. In addition here a link to some general governmental warnings. At the time of writing it is by exception possible to acquire an additional nationality. However, if you do not comply with the exceptions and conditions you will automatically (possibly unknowingly) loose your Dutch nationality. In addition, even when first qualifying for the exception you can still automatically loose your Dutch nationality at a later time, as per the so called “10 year clock”.
